    Bubbles is Driving me Crazy!

OMG...My husband during thanksgiving taught Bubbles to say.....Gobble, Gobble, Gobble!

So now....here we are weeks later...and Bubbles will only say....Gobble, Gobble, Gobble! AT THE TOP OF HIS LITTLE LUNGS!

I have tried everything to get him to say his other words/noises, and he just Gobble, Gobble, Gobble back at me!

Connie & Cyreen you'll like this....Last night...I tried Quacking at him...over and over...he was NOT impressed...just more Gobble, Gobble, Gobble!

He is doing it right now as I speak! URG!!!!!

Are some Caiques better at speaking than others? Does it depend on age? Opie really doesn't try, and Kookie is working on "I love you" and "You go sleep now"...we can tell what she is saying, but I don't think others could...

Well...I'm sure that our NEW neighbors next door to us, have gotten an ear full when we still had the windows open.
They are NOT socialble, and I'm guessing that they think we have a house full of NUTS! With all the weird talking and noises
that the birds are all making! lmao

Now that I have picked myself up from the floor laughing, lets hope for the sake of your sanity that it is a phase and he will move on to something else soon. But seriously, I would love to see that video! My old Nanday would tickle tickle all day. She would have what we called tickle fits where it seemed she was stuck saying tickle over and over. Except she actually said kickle instead. That was 15 years ago and I still say kickle for tickle half the time.

Rick, it seems to be more an individual thing. Some talk great and pick it up fast, some don't feel the need to talk much. Mine talk a lot but don't have too many phrases. Probably 10 at most. I've had them since March and they didn't learn any new words from me till September or so. That was peek a boo, now they say that well and they are working on tickle and crazy bird. I have said nite nite to them when I cover them since the day I brought them home and they haven't picked it up. My fav is whatca doin doin doin doin. That is their good morning to me every day. Always 4 doins but only in the morning. I love the way their little brains work!

Rick....I guess I'm one of the few who doesn't have a talking Caique!
Neither of mine talk, they don't even act like they want to try.

They do not do noise imitations either? I guess they figure there is too much competition with Freddy, Leo, Bubbles and Nibbles all chattering away! lol

Opie imitates my kissy noises, and the whistle sound I use to all the dogs in...but that is about it...Kookie does a GREAT cat meow and the sound the microwave makes when it's done cooking...I really wish they talked clearly...I have a bunch of things I'd love to teach them to say...<g>

    Annrose,
I join you in the ranks of a non talking caique. Jake makes whistles, chirps, and kissing sounds but that's about it.

Peanut says "birdy, birdy, birdy" but it's difficult to understand. I also think he says "what are you doing birdy, birdy". He makes a kissing sound, and does tons of whistles. He almost has the Andy Griffith Theme song down... but he just can't seem to get the first part lol. The funniest thing is when he's playing with his toys and he gets really excited, he'll start whistling that song over and over. It is hilarious! Other than those sounds and a few words I can't recognize anything he says, although I'm pretty sure he is saying more phrases.
