    jarjar is sick

hey everyone. could really use some prayer, best wishes......... whatever right now. jarjar (my jardine) has been sick since last thursday. had been on antibiotics since last friday.
so far, all tests have come back negative. ie: liver function, kidney function, feces for parasites etc.
he suddenly dropped 10g in one day. im soooo glad i weigh at least every other day!! he actually started making a squeeking noise a few days before this but we thought he was just looking for attention. :(
the doc is still waiting for some tests to come back.
after the initial weight loss and dr visit (where he had an antibiotic shot), he held his weight the rest of the weekend. at 10g less than normal that is. on monday he took another plunge. he has been getting supplemental feeding via tube and some hydration under the skin for the last 2 days. these have really perked him up but he is still not responding to the antibiotics. the dr is upbeat. im depressed and have been crying since thursday. i LOVE this little guy!!!
    any prayers are greatly appreciated!!

Aww, Deb, I am so sorry to hear this but please try to keep your chin up......I understand your love for your bird and that is why you have to try and think positive....you don't want Jar, Jar picking up on any of your fears...I will say a prayer for him and hope the he is better soon......I forget, how young is he again? Does he still need to be on formula to keep his weight...I will be thinking of you hun...big hugs................

thanks connie and rick. jarjar is, and has been fully weaned for months now. he is only 5 months old but weaned at 6 weeks. we didnt bring him home though till he was 3 months.

he is being tube fed because, while he is eating some, he isnt eating enough to keep his weight up. :(

im sooo stressed. have a terrible headache and crying since thursday!

We had a really big scare with our Umbrella this summer. Weight loss and a squeezing noise when she pooped were the signs. They should also test for Chlamydia and Hep. Those tests take longer to come back I understand those can be symptoms. I was where you are as we were pretty sure (because the vet told us) it was probably a tumor. We got a second opinion, turns out it was just her birdy uterious. Several rounds of steroids and all better. Could the vet try another anti-biotic?

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear he is sick. I'll keep you guys in my prayers. Pois are a tough and hardy group of birds. Keep good thoughts in mind. We are all behind you. Let us know how the rest of the tests come out.

Poor Birdie!. And I know exactly how you feel after Cha-Cha's scare last weekend. I will be thinking positive thoughts for you and Jar-Jar.

From my own personal experience ( kidney transplant), if the experts are feeling good about the procedure, you have to go with that and hold that positive thought.

    Best wishes

    John
