Those of you that own Caiques now can you tell me the good and bad about them? I would like to know what to look for when I bring my stinker home :)

Pros :
Sweet, cuddly, entertaining, funny, companionship, playfulness
Cons :
Messy!! Loud (mine is anyway), that's about it! LOL
Megan, mom to :
Brandt, Human child - Sept 7/2000
Keiko,male Rottweiler/GSD - Nov 15/2000 - RIP Feb.21/2010
Kiwi, female BHC - Jan 1/07
Piper(m) & Echo(f), pied cockatiels - Approx. Aug/06 & Jan/07
Mango & Tango, male peach faced lovebirds - Feb 28/08
Smudge, male European Starling - May 25/09
Pros :
Sweet, entertaining, want to be on you all the time, never a dull moment
Cons :
Loud, want to be on you all the time (so will not stay on a playgym and scream for you), like to chew on you and your clothing, may like like other species of birds, or even their own species (like my two)
Pros: hilarious, entertaining, always want to be with you, very intelligent, mine is not loud at all compared to my other birds.
Cons: (for mine at least) can't be left out alone for a second, mine does not like to be snuggled or anything else that will keep him still for 5 seconds, can be very beaky, can't be trusted with other birds.
That being said, I LOVE my caique, he is without a doubt the funniest, most entertaining bird ever...much more like a feathered puppy than a bird. I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. Pogo just turned 1, and I've been told as he matures he will settle down a little so maybe one day he can be allowed to play on a parrot stand or around his cage without constant supervision....but not now. Also, he's getting much more gentle and tolerant of the other birds by the day. He now knows that if he approaches them slowly and doesn't try to hop on their backs, they will allow him to be around them. Night before last, he did the cutest thing I've ever seen. For some reason, whenever he approaches Ollie or Simon, he extends his foot as if he is high fiving, and the other night, he came up to SImon like that, and Simon bent down and Pogo gave him neck scritches!!:D
Humorous, intelligent, sweet, independent
Messy, loud and intelligent.
sweet, funny, playfull, continuously with everything, there is no off-button
messy, continuously with everything, there is no off-button
pros- leroy is funny, sweet, crazy, tons of energy, makes me laugh everyday. I'm lucky in the fact that leroy hardly ever screams.
cons-can be aggressive toward other birds- very stubborn and has to be kept in line-during breeding season turns into an unpredictable monster then back to being the sweetest bird ever.
Pros...Unbelievably entertaining, stuck on you like velcro, playful
Cons....High maintenance as they can't be left alone when out of cage
I love my 11 month old boys!!!

Plato & Ceasar...13 month old wb
Sammie............9 year old Greyhound Dobie

So far, my little baby is SO good and sweet. He started by not being vocal at all, totally tame, cuddly whenever I come home from being out of the house, and a hoot to watch. Lately, he's getting more vocal and bold, and I know that hormones and adolescence are in store, but so far, overall, he's been a lamb and my joy. :)
Aw I love reading this. I should post this list on the blog, its too funny!
My pro-con list is wrapped up all in my favorite statement, I think.
"Caiques are.... a dab of african grey intelligence, the attention span of a moth, and the hyperactivity of a two year old that ate sugar cereal for breakfast."
Owned by:
Higgins & Rosie, black headed caiques
Tahoe & Sierra, pacific parrotlets
Lucky - blue and gold macaw
Max - timneh african grey
Marlee - pineapple greencheek conure
Tooie - molluccan cockatoo
