Peanut butter

My husband has organic peanut butter (nothing in it but peanuts) and Mango loves it. She does tricks for it when she sees my hubby eating it. Is it ok for her to get this? I am not sure if it is junk food, or worse than other nuts, or if it is bad because it is butter.

Check the ingredients. If there is any added sugar or something you might want to avoid it, but if its just peanuts then it should be fine. Just treat it like regular nuts...only in moderation.

The only ingredient is peanuts. That makes it separate with oil on top. We just pour that off.

I was just worried that there was something else wrong with peanuts in particular. I can't remember what though.

Peanuts in the shell can have aspergillus mold spores on the outside that can be inhaled when they crack them open. Other than that I don't think there is anything else wrong with peanuts.

my guys all LOVE peanut butter. I give them a piece of toast with some on it as a treat sometimes

That is what I heard about I beleive...the mold. Ok that takes my worry away. I swear Mango would do flips for this stuff.

Peanut butter is fine. Like anything else, feed in moderation, but if she likes it give her some as a treat. If you are in doubt on commercial organic brands, make your own using roasted nuts. It is delicious that way. You only need a blender and little canola or olive oil (binder for the nuts and it makes it a little more consistent).

I give Leroy and Ava a tiny amount or peanut butter on a small piece of whole grain wheat bread when they have had a broken blood feather. I read somewhere once that it helps build up their protein level. I don't know if that is true or not, I just know they love it.

I got some organic peanut butter but Spike doesnt like it. He prefers cashew nuts or almonds thank you. I should make cashew nut butter for him!

Royal loves PB, will run off the jar once it's out. He also loves all types of fresh raw nuts. My father in law has pecan trees so every year who have home grown pecans for our baby.
