Thot this was interesting in relation to what caiques eat in the wild:
Natural diet: fruits, berries and seeds.

Went further to give a list:
Diet: variety of fruit and vegetables (apple, rose-hip, orange, grape, zucchini or courgette, cucumber etc.); seed mix of safflower, buckwheat, linseed, oats, groats, canary grass seed, various millets, some sunflower and hemp; sprouted seed in spring and summer; plenty of greenfood (chickweed, spinach, dandelion etc.); fresh branches with buds when available; mineral supplements; rearing food or dog chow just before and during breeding period.

Wait a minute - canary grass seed? As in, the invasive plant that's really causing havoc in the midwest? I can get that ANYWHERE!! Sorry, I'm sort of an ecologist, so I'm big into invasives.

yeah...i don't know if it's good to give your birdies all the ones listed?? like for instance "hemp seed" as some on here have had issues with hemp...but i'm always interested in giving my self more awareness in raising my caique whether i totally agree with an article or not.
